2009-10 Season
With the 10th overall pick in the 2009 draft, the 49ers picked Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree and traded their only 1st round pick to the Carolina Panthers for a first round pick in 2010. The rest of the draft the 49ers picked Alabama RB Glen coffee, Pitt ILB Scott Mckillop, Ball State QB Nate Davis, Fresno State TE Bear Pascoe, LSU FS Curtis Taylor and LSU DT Ricky Jean-Francois. In May 2009, starting CB Walt Harris tore an ACL and the franchise signed Pro Bowl CB Dre Bly. As of this writing, Top Pick WR Michael Crabtree is a holdout of all training camp activities and has not attended any training camp. The 10th pick and his agent feel his talent is worth more than #10 pick money and surprisingly, Coach Singletary (himself a rookie holdout with the Bears) has yet to say much about his #1 pick’s issues with salary.
Look for the 49er’s to get back into the playoffs with a strong coach and supporting staff and a revamped receiving corps if and only if a starting QB can emerge a leader from training camp.
